Creating the Custom Homepage

To take full advantage of Work & Play, it is important to apply the custom homepage template. To do this, simply create a new page in WordPress called “Home.” Then apply the “Homepage” Page Template. Publish this post. Create a new page called “Blog” leaving the content area blank. Publish this post.

Next, visit the Settings > Reading screen, and where it shows “Front page displays:” Select “a static page.” For the Front Page select box, select the “Home” page. For the Posts Page select the “Blog Page.”

Adding Features

To use the featured tabber on the custom homepage, you should add some “Features.” To do this, simply visit the “Features > Add New” screen. Add a title (this will be the title on the actual tab), some content (this will be the content on the panel), an excerpt (the content on the tab), a featured image (the image on the panel), and upload an icon to be used on the tab.

Notice:

Use the shortcode [featured-title] to add a title to the panel. For example: [feature-title sup="Top Notch Design"]We Bloody Do It[/feature-title]

Adding Projects

To use the portfolio aspect of Work & Play, navigate to the “Projects > Add New” page.

Simply fill out the title, content, and upload a featured image. To add extra images that appear in the scroller, upload multiple images via the Media Uploader. Simply save the gallery (you do not need to insert the gallery). The images will automatically be added to the rotator.

Fill out any additional information via the custom meta box.
